Cancer research saves lives!
For World Cancer Day, which takes place each year on February 4th, thank you for joining the Cancer Research Society (CRS) in its efforts to halt the progression of this disease which is the leading cause of death in Canada. This digital initiative ran from February 1 to 6, 2024, and raised over $25,000 net. This amount will be invested in research to better prevent, detect and treat all types of cancer.

Over $265,000 net raised through our end-of-year campaign
Our end-of-year campaign under the theme #CANCERHEROES raised over $265,000 net to fund more innovative research into all types of cancer to better prevent, detect and treat this disease. This completely digital initiative was held in November and December of 2023. During this campaign, we wanted to highlight a number of cancer heroes: patients who are fighting this battle on a daily basis, researchers continuing their work to outsmart cancer, and finally our generous donors who make it possible for us to fund cutting-edge research.

On Monday, December 11, Montreal's Maison Alcan was transformed into an enchanted venue, imbued with the magic of the holiday season, for the Christmas Carols for the research event. Masterfully directed by Dr. Mark Basik, the Communion and Liberation choir offered a spellbinding performance, harmonizing Christmas carols and emotions, in aid of a most important cause: breast cancer research.

Colorectal Cancer: The Time to Take Action is Now!
The Omicron variant’s arrival in November once again halted colorectal screening efforts. The numbers speak for themselves. Over 110,000 people are waiting for a colonoscopy in Quebec, 63% of which exceed the MSSS’ wait time norms. There has also been a 238% increase in the number of primary requisitions for untimely colonoscopies between August 2021 and the 2020 average. There is clearly a need to take action!

“Cœur d’homme”: An Initiative by Kaïn
Montreal, February 18, 2021 — The special partnership between musical group Kaïn and the Cancer Research Society (the Society) was the result of an initiative by the band which today released the video for the song “Cœur d’homme” (The Heart of a Man), a tribute to group member Éric Maheu’s brother who died of colon cancer last year. Funds raised following the video’s release will be directly donated to the Society to contribute to funding cancer research.
