2021 Urban BBQ: $455,136 Raised for Cancer Research
The 7th edition of the Cancer Research Society’s (CRS) Urban BBQ which was held on Thursday, June 17, allowed us to raise $455,136 for cancer research. Presented virtually, the Urban BBQ turned out to be a great success.
The Urban BBQ, which is presented by the RBC Royal Bank (Quebec), is an annual summer event that gathers the business community together in support of the Society. Since its beginnings, over $2.8 million dollars have been raised to support the best cancer research projects in the country.
During this virtual edition, participants were able to take part in a festive, friendly event where, from the comfort of their own home, they could enjoy a BBQ-style grill-ready meal, prepared for them by Chef Marc-André Jetté and his team, as well as watch the event that showcased Ricardo Larrivée, Stéphane Rousseau, and André Robitaille as host.
The Society would also like to offer warm thanks to its partners including the RBC Royal Bank, the presenting partner. The support of Ms. Nadine Renaud-Tinker, President of the Royal Bank of Canada (Quebec), was invaluable to holding this event and to its success. The Society would also like to thank the honorary patrons, as well as the participants and donors. Close to 1000 people contributed to the Urban BBQ’s success.
“I am very proud that the whole RBC Royal Bank gets involved with the Cancer Research Society, year after year, to contribute to this cause that is so close to our hearts. Investing in research to defeat cancer is essential. It is the only way to better prevent, detect and treat this illness which unfortunately still directly and indirectly affects far too many people. Heartfelt thanks to all of our donors, partners and honorary patrons without whom none of this would be possible,” declared Nadine Renaud-Tinker, President of the Royal Bank of Canada (Quebec).
“What another great success this year! The RBC Royal Bank’s commitment, as well as that of all of the other partners, participants and donors is invaluable to us. Thanks to their support, we will be able to fund a greater number of innovative projects and continue to pursue our objective of being a leader in the field of cancer research in Canada,” declared Manon Pepin, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Cancer Research Society.
