2020 Sherbrooke Cycling Classic: challenge accepted and met!

Montreal, October 7, 2020 — The Cancer Research Society is proud to highlight the success of its 2020 Sherbrooke Cycling Classic, which raised close to $85,000 despite the numerous constraints imposed by COVID-19.

Each year, the involvement of many participants and volunteers makes it possible for the Cancer Research Society to host the Cyclo-Golf Classic and, since last year, the Sherbrooke Cycling Classic. Due to the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, the Cyclo-Golf Classic was forced to cancel its Montreal event, but the organizers of the Sherbrooke Cycling Classic decided, without any hesitation, to adapt their event to make it a virtual cycling challenge in support of the cause.

“We are very proud that this second edition has been able to come true and reinvent itself. The work of the organizers is remarkable and testifies to their tenacity! I would like to personally congratulate them and thank them, as well as the participants who support research in this way. More than ever, we need everyone to be united in supporting research,” said Manon Pepin, President and CEO of the Cancer Research Society.

“We are very proud of the great mobilization of our colleagues and friends from the Université de Sherbrooke and the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke who support this great initiative for the advancement of cancer research. We are pleased to celebrate this great success with the Cancer Research Society in 2020 and we are already looking forward to next year!” said professors Darel Hunting and Benoît Paquette, organizers of the Sherbrooke Cycling Classic, and professor Nathalie Rivard, Vice-Dean of Graduate Studies, Research and Innovation, all from the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS).
