Read for the Cure Celebrates its 15th Year With $165,000 net Raised

Since its first edition in 2007, Read for the Cure has raised more than $1.8 million! This year, to the delight of the participants, three events took place.

Read for the Cure, presented by Penguin Random House Canada, celebrated its 15th year, raising $165,000 net for the Environment-Cancer Fund at the Cancer Research Society. The fund supports researchers investigating the environmental causes of cancer in Canadians—and preventative measures to ensure fewer Canadians have to endure the effects of cancer.

Vancouver

We were thrilled and honoured to kick off our event season with over 250 book lovers, donors, colleagues and friends in Vancouver.

Thank you to our authors, Jann Arden, Douglas Coupland and Omar El Akkad for speaking, and to Mi-Jung Lee, our amazing emcee!

Virtual event

Thank you to all the viewers who tuned in from across the country to support cancer research at our livestream event!

We’d also like to extend a special thank you to our panelists, Sarah Weinman, Martha Wainwright, and Elamin Abdelmahmoud, and to our wonderful emcee, Joshua Bernier-Taylor-Waterhouse!

Toronto

We were elated and honoured to end our wonderful event season with over 300 book lovers, donors, colleagues and friends at the Palais Royale in Toronto!

And of course, we couldn’t have done it without our authors, Kathleen Winter, Ann-Marie MacDonald and Camilla Gibb, as well as our wonderful emcee, Johanna Schneller.
