A FULL HOUSE AT WINDSOR STATION FOR THE ANNUAL URBAN BBQ BENEFITING THE CANCER RESEARCH SOCIETY

The Fourth Annual Urban BBQTM presented by RBC Royal Bank, the most important fundraiser to benefit the Cancer Research Society, broke a record this year. Over $505,000 was raised thanks to the generous participation of nearly 900 attendees at Windsor Station on May 25th, 2017. The sold-out event helped to raise funds for cancer research over a delicious menu concocted by Ricardo Larrivée and prepared by Marc-André Jetté and his catering team.
The Urban BBQTM has become a rendez-vous for members of the Montreal business and cultural community who want to get involved in the fight against cancer. “I am moved and proud to see the mobilization of our community around this important cause that affects so many people. The Urban BBQTM directly benefits the research efforts of our best scientists,” said Martin Thibodeau, President, Quebec Headquarters, RBC Royal Bank and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cancer Research Society.
In just four years, the Urban BBQTM has raised over 1.5 million dollars, helping to fund a dozen research projects led by the country’s most promising scientists. “The contribution of Canadian researchers is paramount because their hard work advances our understanding of cancer, how it is treated and even how we can prevent it. But they need financial support, and it is through a collective effort like today’s event that we can help and encourage them,” indicated Max Fehlmann, President and CEO of the Cancer Research Society.
The Cancer Research Society’s spokesperson Stéphane Rousseau was pleased to act as the event’s emcee: “I’m so proud to be part of such a rallying event! It’s wonderful to know that our involvement today could help contribute to the next great discovery in cancer research!”
