Theater in support of cancer research
On July 20, 2024, theater enthusiasts had the opportunity to attend a performance of the play "Appelez-moi Stéphane" while supporting the mission of the Cancer Research Society (CRS) in partnership with Monarque Productions.
Privileged guests were able to partake in a unique experience, including a private cocktail event with André Robitaille (director and spokesperson for the CRS) and some actors, followed by a backstage tour, all before attending the play.
Thanks for your support, we have raised $11,500 to finance some of the most promising research projects to better prevent, detect and treat all types of cancer.
Thank you to our generous partners
The Cancer Research Society (CRS) would like to acknowledge the indispensable support of Monarque and the Laliberté family and the Frappier family.
The Laliberté and Frappier families support the Cancer Research Society in honor of Antoine Frappier, who passed away from stomach cancer and would have greatly enjoyed this play, according to his loved ones. His family is committed to funding more promising research projects, thereby giving hope to more families. The CRS is grateful for the generous donation to the Antoine Frappier Memorial Fund, which will be used to finance research projects related to esophageal and/or stomach cancer.
”Appelez-moi Stéphane,” a classic from the 80s, awaits its audience with a legendary play featuring an impressive cast:
Authors: Claude Meunier and Louis Saia
Directed by: André Robitaille (Spokesperson for the Cancer Research Society)
Starring: Patrice Bélanger, Caroline Bouchard, Véronic DiCaire, Bernard Fortin, Dominic Paquet, and Tammy Verge
“Appelez-moi Stéphane” (performance in French only):
Five aspiring actors from different backgrounds enroll in an evening theater class, enticed by the promise of a unique artistic experience. Stéphane, their charismatic teacher, challenges them to create a play. With his innate talent for uncovering his students’ weaknesses, Stéphane gradually leads them to reveal their inner turmoil and release the hidden anxieties deep within their being. Although Stéphane’s intentions seem noble, he underestimates the forces he sets in motion. Like a sorcerer’s apprentice, he unleashes dynamics that he can no longer control, transforming this theatrical project into an experience with unexpected and potentially perilous consequences. This legendary and mythical play skillfully blends drama and bursts of laughter into an explosive cocktail of theater.
