16th Edition Read for the Cure
The famous literary event, Read for the Cure, presented by Penguin Random House Canada for the benefit of the Cancer Research Society (CRS) has just celebrated its 16th anniversary in the cities of Vancouver, Toronto, and Ottawa, raising a net sum of $85,700!
More than just a literary event, Read for the Cure stands out for its profound commitment to cancer research and highlighting the significant influence of the environment on this disease.
Since its first edition in 2007, the event has raised over $1.9 million for the CRS’s Environment-Cancer Fund. This impressive sum has helped finance more than 35 groundbreaking research projects. These studies explore various aspects of the environment, such as the impact of toxic agents, pollution, and our lifestyles, including diet, on the development and progression of cancer.
At a time when awareness of the impact of the environment on our health is growing, Read for the Cure is positioning itself as a real catalyst for change. Every dollar raised and every project funded represent major advances in countering cancer.
The success of this edition would not have been possible without the remarkable involvement of our wonderful contributors.
