Urban BBQ 2026: A Collective Success for Cancer Research

May 27th, 2026 — Presented for the 12th consecutive year by RBC Royal Bank (Quebec), Urban BBQ in support of the Cancer Research Society (CRS) was once again a tremendous success. Held on May 27th at the Grand Quai du Port de Montréal, the event brought together more than 1,000 guests and raised an exceptional net amount of $850,000, which will help fund research projects in Quebec.

Under the inspiring theme “Collectively Supporting Research Means Investing In Our Future”, this festive event celebrating the regions of Quebec invited participants to enjoy a BBQ-style meal specially created by chef Marc-André Jetté of Hoogan et Beaufort, his Michelin-starred restaurant, and Annette bar à vin, alongside Ricardo Larrivée, ambassador of the Urban BBQ. Hosted by André Robitaille, spokesperson for the CRS, the day was marked by a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Since 1945, the CRS has been committed to funding innovative research to better prevent, detect, and treat all types of cancer. Thanks to the leadership of RBC Royal Bank and the generosity of participants, Urban BBQ helps fund scientific breakthroughs that bring hope to people living with cancer and future generations.

Manon Pepin, President and CEO of the CRS

“The Urban BBQ event is a powerful testament to the impact we can have when businesses join forces for a cause as crucial as cancer research. RBC is honoured to play a central role in this initiative. Our commitment is unwavering: to advance science to improve treatments and help patients across the country achieve the best possible quality of life.”

The CRS also wishes to thank its platinum partners, Beluga Construction and EM Real Estate, as well as its prestige partner, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton.

A heartfelt thank you to Marjolaine Hudon, Regional President, Quebec Division, RBC Royal Bank, honorary president of the event. We also thank the honorary patrons, donors, participants, and all volunteers who contributed to the many successes of this 12th edition.
