This unique adventure takes on a very special meaning, as the funds raised by participants help to make a significant difference to the advancement of cancer research.

Travel to Canada’s Eastern entrance on Avalon Peninsula where catching a glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean’s many coastal marvels is a daily affair.

Oceanic whales, puffins, icebergs (depending on the season), steep cliffs, local cuisine and picturesque fishing towns… and let us not forget the beautiful city of St. John’s that will surely leave its mark in your mind and heart with its charms and warm welcoming citizens. Start every day from your cottage onto many trails that will lead you through forests unto breathtaking views, and farther into the coast as you go across parks and villages.

Your journey

Day 1 : Montreal – St. John’s
Participants meet at Montreal Trudeau airport. Assistance for registration and departure for St. John’s, Newfoundland. Upon arrival, you transfer to your lodging in Tors Cove region, in a cozy cabin, situated around a main cottage where you will meet every mornings for breakfast and at the end of each hike for dinner.

Day 2 : BEACHES – TINKERS TRAIL – LA MANCHE
Breakfast at the main chalet, then it’s off for your first day of hiking in very wild terrain. You’ll follow the Beaches and Tinkers trails along the coastline, with superb views and the chance to access the beach, watch birds and sometimes even whales and icebergs. You continue from Tors Cove to La Manche Provincial Park, crossing a 50-metre long suspension bridge.

Picnic lunch en route and return to your accommodation at the end of the day.

Distance: 17 km / Elevation +/- 1025m / Approximate duration: 8h
Day 3 : FLAMBER HEAD TRAIL – BRIGUS HEAD PATH
After a hearty breakfast, it’s off for a day’s hiking on fairly rugged terrain. You’ll leave La Manche Provincial Park about where you would have ended your hike the day before, to follow Flamber Head Path on forest trails with magnificent views of the coast and steep cliffs once again! You will continue on Brigus Head Path for a total of 18 km.

Distance: 18 km / Elevation +/- 710m / Approximate duration: 9h
Day 4 : SPOUT PATH
A most challenging and rewarding hike, this long, hilly trail is for experienced hikers only! Depending on the shape of the group, there’s also the option of hiking to Spout Geyser, a wave-fed geyser. The trail includes spectacular cliffs, a historic lighthouse and 5 waterfalls. The trail passes over rugged terrain, with many ups and downs.

Distance: 11 to 16 km / Elevation +/- 1095m / Approximate duration: 8h
Day 5 : MOTION PATH
After a hearty breakfast, it’s off for a day’s hiking on part of the Motion Path trail, from south to north, ending at the pretty fishing village of Petty Harbour, where your driver will pick you up.

Lunch, dinner and supper included.

Distance: 13 km / Elevation +/- 550m / Approximate duration: 6h
Day 6 : BLACK HEAD PATH – CAPE SPEAR
Depart for your penultimate day of hiking starting on the Black Head Path, to Canada’s most easterly point at Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic site. You’ll then walk along the ocean on an easy trail with clear views and the possibility of spotting whales. You will then continue for a few kilometers to Fort Amherst, just outside St. John’s, before ending your day.

Distance: 15 km / Elevation +/- 500m / Approximate duration: 7h
Day 7 : ST. JOHN’S
This last day is dedicated to an easier hike in and around St. John’s. Going along Rennie River, you then go round Quidi Vidi Lake leading into Signal Hill’s historical site, remembering the town’s history and the role it played in the history of communications. You then walk another extra 30 minutes at the trails exit to get into St. John’s where you will have some free time to walk around and enjoy the city before returning to the cottages for the final farewell dinner.

Distance: 12 km / Elevation +/- 60m / Approximate duration : 6 h
Day 8 : ST. JOHN’S – MONTREAL
Transit to St. John’s airport and flight to Montreal.
