Charlevoix 2028

In the morning, depart for Charlevoix on your own. Arrival in the afternoon at Relais des Hautes-Gorges and check-in to your room for a 3-night stay. Meet in the evening for dinner and a briefing with your guide regarding the week’s itinerary and the following day’s hike.

Transportation between the mountains, trails, and accommodations will be at your own expense and arranged independently.

Breakfast at the Relais des Hautes-Gorges, followed by departure for your hike in Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie. Be sure to bring warm clothing, as temperatures at the summit can be significantly cooler. The Acropole des Draveurs trail takes you through a beautiful forest setting to the first summit, where you will emerge into an alpine environment showcasing remarkable flora and breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy spectacular views over the Malbaie River valley and the surrounding mountains before continuing on to the next two summits along the route. Following lunch, continue along a fairly challenging trail featuring stunning viewpoints that are well worth the effort. Return to the Relais des Hautes-Gorges in the late afternoon.

Breakfast at the Relais des Hautes-Gorges, then depart for the Zec du Lac-au-Sable. From the Zec reception to the trailhead, you will travel approximately 30 km by car through the boreal forest. The Menaud trail is a new route within Zec du Lac-au-Sable. The hike begins at the Mont Élie trailhead, where you will cover 1.6 km before branching off onto the new Menaud trail. This section includes a steeper climb of approximately 1 km but rewards hikers with beautiful viewpoints. The full route totals 11.2 km when combining a portion of Mont Élie and the Menaud trail. Lunch will be enjoyed during the hike. Return to the Relais des Hautes-Gorges in the late afternoon.

Breakfast at the Relais des Hautes-Gorges. After packing your bags and checking out of your rooms, you will depart from the lodge to the trailhead of Mont des Morios for a beautiful 25 km loop hike. The Mont des Morios trail features a mountain ascent and offers a 360-degree viewpoint over the St. Lawrence River and the Charlevoix mountains. In the distance, you may also see the south shore of the St. Lawrence. A section of trail completed in 2014 connects Mont des Morios to the Chute trail, creating a loop that passes through Mont du Gros Castor and descends toward Lac Boudreault.

Lunch will be enjoyed during the hike. In the late afternoon, drive to your hotel in Baie-Saint-Paul for a 2-night stay.

Distance: 25 km / Approximate walking time: 6 to 8 hours / Elevation: +1,200 m, – 1,200 m.

Breakfast at your hotel, followed by departure for Mont Liguori. The itinerary follows the Ancestrale trail as well as the western section of the Gabrielle-Roy trail, offering an immersive experience in nature between dense forest and mountain panoramas. Trail access is via the Coopérative de Solidarité L’Affluent, where you will complete your registration before starting the hike. From the first few kilometres, the route begins with a sustained ascent that quickly gives way to a trail surrounded by lush, wild vegetation. The effort is well rewarded upon arrival at the Liguori refuge, where you will be treated to spectacular views over the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding mountains. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon after a full day of discovery and breathtaking landscapes.

Distance: 15 km / Approximate walking time: 4 to 6 hours / Elevation: +774 m, -716 m.

Breakfast at your hotel and then depart for the Zec des Martres to begin your hike of Mont du Dôme. This trail leads to a summit offering superb viewpoints over the Jacques-Cartier Lake massif and the surrounding mountains, some reaching nearly 1,000 metres in elevation. Spanning approximately 7.8 km, the route begins in forest and gradually climbs uphill. The terrain is varied, at times rocky and root-covered, with a few more sustained sections. The Lac à la Main trail can be accessed on the descent from Mont du Dôme. This section features a steady ascent, often through more open terrain. Return to Baie-Saint-Paul after your hike for a farewell dinner to mark the end of your challenge. Depart for Montreal on your own in the early afternoon.
