Kim Joubert is more than just an ambassador for Le Challenge rose, she is its driving force and inspiring soul. Her journey, marked by adversity and resilience, led her to create a one-of-a-kind challenge that combines self-improvement and well-being, all in support of breast cancer research.

In 2022, Kim’s life was turned upside down. Her father was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Determined to take action, she discovered the Challenge Against Cancer program by the Cancer Research Society and decided to take on a challenge in his honour: an 80 km trek across the Jordanian desert. But fate had other plans. Just months later, Kim herself was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. At only 39 years old, she faced chemotherapy, a mastectomy, immunotherapy, and the devastating loss of her father—just one month before starting treatment.

Rather than being overwhelmed by these events, Kim chose to complement her medical treatments with a holistic approach: healthy eating, yoga, acupuncture, intermittent fasting, meditation, and, most importantly, being fully present with her children. After months of resilience and treatment, she finally received the news she had been hoping for—her cancer was gone!

Driven by a deep desire to make a difference, Kim turned her experience into action. One sunny morning at the cottage, she envisioned a project that reflected her values: an accessible, human-centered challenge combining physical activity and well-being to raise awareness and mobilize people around breast cancer. From this vision, Le Challenge rose was born—a collaborative fundraising initiative between the Cancer Research Society and the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.

This unique challenge combines multi-day hiking and yoga, including a 1,600-metre volcano ascent, as well as moments of meditation and reflection. The goal? To offer participants a transformative experience—one of personal achievement and connection—mirroring Kim’s healing journey while raising funds for promising breast cancer research projects in Canada.

Kim dreams of establishing Le Challenge rose as one of the key fundraising initiatives for breast cancer in Quebec. But she isn’t stopping there. Determined to continue her commitment, she plans to participate in the Challenge Against Cancer in Vietnam in April 2025—an opportunity to celebrate life, honor her journey, and inspire others to join the cause.

Today, Kim embodies strength and determination. Her story proves that even in life’s darkest moments, pain can be transformed into hope, inspiring lasting change. With Le Challenge rose, she invites everyone to get involved, take care of their health, and help advance research—one step at a time.
