Participants meet at Montréal-Trudeau airport and take off for Tunis.

Overnight flight includes dinner and breakfast.

On arrival, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to your hotel in Tunis. You will have a meeting to prepare for the trek that begins the next day.

Departure to Béja to discover the archaeological site of Dougga for an easier first day’s walk. Erected on the heights of Dougga, the Djebba nature park has a number of springs, some of which turn into pleasant little waterfalls, making the landscape all the more pleasant. The park’s location makes it a must for all hikers passing through the region or heading towards Dougga.

You will head for Ain Boussadia where you will stay for 2 nights.

Breakfast, then departure for the Jebel Bargou trek. In addition to the magnificent panoramic views as we climb Jebel Bargou, on the way back we’ll pass through olive groves, where we can replenish our drinking water supplies straight from the Bargou mountain. At the end of the hike, we’ll be back in the calm of Ain Boussadia to sample traditional local dishes.

Accommodation in Ain Boussaiai in a hostel or on a campsite.

Distance: 13 km / Approximate walking time: 6 hours / Difference in altitude: +730m, -730m.

Departure for another ascent in the Serj National Park. Jebel Serj is the highest peak in central Tunisia, culminating at 1,357m. The climb takes in some magnificent views before we return to our guesthouse in Zaghouan.

Along with the magical panoramas, on our ascent of Jebel Zaghouan we’ll pass by the Mausoleum of Sidi Bougabrine, the Machina: the ruins of the zip line that used to lower the limestone blocks from the foot of the peak to Sidi Medien, our arrival point for this trek, with its magnificent mosque. We can also see the rosehips (Nesrine), the flowers of which are used to make the famous ‘Kaak Warka’ pastries, a speciality of Zaghouan.

This trek between Sidi Medien and Zriba Olia, with little change in altitude but more kilometers, will take us to the magnificent Berber village of Zriba Oliya, via springs of drinking water from Jebel Zaghouan. In Zriba Oliya, we’ll enjoy the excellent Berber cuisine prepared by our hosts for the evening.

Distance: 19 km / Approximate walking time: 6 hours / Difference in altitude: +210m, -210m

We will finish this magnificent adventure climbing Jebel Ressas before returning to the capital Tunis. 8 km including 4 km of ascent with a 600 m positive difference in altitude, so that we can appreciate the splendid views over Tunis, Cap Bon and Zaghouan.
