Cancer research: A spark of hope

Faced with the shock of a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, I discovered that my survival would not rely solely on my resilience but also on the advances in research. Thanks to the care and support I received, I came to understand the vital importance of research in providing hope and quality of life to all those affected by this disease.

Affected by prostate cancer

Cancer is a harsh reality that disrupts the lives of those it affects, as well as their loved ones. For me, it was an unexpected shock nearly a year ago when I learned that the pain I believed to be simple sciatica was, in fact, a sign of stage 4 prostate cancer, with metastases to the femur. This news stirred a mix of fear and uncertainty about the future within me.

But I quickly realized that my journey would not rely solely on my own resilience, but also on the remarkable advances in research.

After the shock: action!

Since that moment, I have undergone grueling radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments. This journey has been filled with challenges, but I have been incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by a dedicated medical team that provided not just care, but also hope. Thanks to their expertise and the progress in research, I hold on to the belief that these treatments can extend my life and allow me to live with dignity and serenity.

After the action: sharing!

As a former journalist, I decided to share my story on social media, and the response has been incredible. I received dozens of messages from people experiencing similar journeys, who hold on to hope thanks to research. This wave of solidarity touched me deeply and showed me how essential research is for all of us who cling to the hope of a better future.
