Support for 7 Promising Researchers

October 23, 2025 — The Cancer Research Society (CRS) is proud to support 7 talented postdoctoral fellows through the Next Generation of Scientists Awards. This unique program in Canada underscores its commitment to supporting emerging cancer researchers and fostering scientific excellence.

Building the Future of Cancer Research

With funding of $185,000 over three years, these grants will enable the 7 recipients to establish their own laboratories, build research teams, and initiate innovative projects that will help advance the fight against cancer. Thanks to Our Partners and Donors

CRS warmly thanks BMO and Ovarian Cancer Canada, who are co-funding two of this year’s grants. We also extend our gratitude to all of our donors, whose generosity supports researchers who are helping to improve cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.

Unwavering Commitment to Research

The Next Generation of Scientists Awards program is part of the CRS’s three annual funding programs, designed to support promising projects across the scientific community. In 2025, a total of 157 grants, representing an investment of $18.3 million, will be awarded for  accelerating discoveries and accelerating the impact of cancer research.

Since its inception in 2013, the program has helped 31 scientists become established researchers. In addition to fostering new discoveries, it plays a strategic role in attracting and retaining top talent in oncology research across the country.
