Honoring Our heritage

December 17, 2025 – As we conclude our 80th anniversary, our determination to continue our commitment to accelerating discoveries and the impact of cancer research remains unwavering. Since 1945, generation after generation, dedicated individuals have chosen to support research to better prevent, detect, and treat cancer. This loyalty has shaped our organization, giving it the strength, credibility, and stability needed to fulfill our essential role.

Accelerating discoveries. Accelerating impact.

Your ongoing support honors the visionary spirit of our founders, including Betty Caplan, as well as all those who built the pillars of our organization, convinced that cancer research saves lives.

Over the years, your generosity has helped fund thousands of cancer research projects across the country, supporting scientific teams who, day after day, turn hope into discoveries. Thanks to you, new therapeutic approaches have emerged, diagnostic tools have been refined, and major advances have contributed to better ways of fighting cancer. This anniversary year has served as a powerful reminder: research remains our most effective lever for progress in outsmarting cancer.

And because the future calls us to act even more quickly, we must recognize a troubling reality: the number of cancer cases in Canada continues to rise. An aging population, evolving risk factors, and the growing complexity of diseases require renewed scientific effort. This trend reminds us of the importance of continuing, with rigor and consistency, the work that began 80 years ago. More than ever, research must be supported, accelerated, and valued to meet the growing needs of patients today and tomorrow.

The need for research remains urgent and the challenges numerous, but the possibilities have never been more promising. By staying true to our roots of scientific rigor, boldness, and collaboration with other organizations dedicated to cancer research, we will continue to accelerate impact to improve the lives of those affected by cancer.

Your support enables us to go further. New initiatives, including our clinical trials program, build on our founding mission: investing in research to provide people with cancer faster, more effective solutions that bring hope.

On behalf of everyone who dedicates their life to cancer research, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I wish you a joyful holiday season and a new year filled with serenity and renewed hope.
