Join us for the 12th edition of the Urban BBQ presented by RBC Royal Bank. This annual fundraising event gathers the “who’s who” of the Montreal business community; It’s the perfect opportunity to network in a festive and casual atmosphere, while supporting the Cancer Research Society. 

It is also a chance to enjoy a delicious BBQ-style lunch, catered and prepared with passion by our guest Chef Marc-André Jetté and his team. Ricardo Larrivée, the Urban BBQ’s Ambassador, and TV Host and Actor André Robitaille, the Cancer Research Society’s Spokesperson will also be in attendance. Undoubtedly a winning recipe for a winning event!

Ricardo Larrivée

Chef, host, and author, Ricardo Larrivée is an iconic figure in Quebec’s culinary scene. Founder of Ricardo Media, he has won the hearts of Quebecers with his popular cooking shows, best-selling cookbooks, and eponymous magazine. Ricardo is also recognized for his community involvement and his desire to make cooking accessible to everyone. As the ambassador of the Urban BBQ, he brings his expertise and passion for cooking to support cancer research and inspire the generosity of Montreal’s business community. 

Marc-André Jetté

Co-owner and chef of Hoogan & Beaufort and Annette bar à vin, Marc-André is a major player on the Canadian culinary scene. Both his restaurant and his catering service enjoy a solid reputation for the originality and quality of their dishes.

André Robitaille

EMCEE
Comedian, host, producer and Quebec spokesperson for the Cancer Research Society, the public has seen this multidisciplinary artist evolve in a multitude of television shows and series as well as in theater and cinema. He is also co-founder of Monarque Productions, which creates live shows. Recipient of numerous awards, André is a man with a heart that is committed to the community, including helping to outsmart cancer through research.

Predict the efficacy of adjuvant endocrine therapy and improve antiestrogen treatment for breast cancers   
Luminal breast cancer is generally treated with hormone therapy, but this treatment is not always effective, and some patients experience recurrence. Researcher François-Michel Boisvert is studying a protein, PRMT5, to better predict patients’ responses to treatment and improve their care. His work could lead to new therapeutic strategies for patients.

Occupational and residential exposures to air pollutants and risk of prostate cancer in the CARTaGENE study
Although prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in Canada, its risk factors remain poorly understood. Researcher Vikki Ho studies the impact of air pollution by analyzing data from over 5,000 men. This research could reveal new environmental risk factors and guide better prevention strategies.

Investigating the RAS/MAPK-BRD2-ETS1 axis in cholangiocarcinoma development and progression
Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare and aggressive cancer of the bile ducts, often linked to chronic liver inflammation. Researcher Jean-Philippe Lambert studies the role of the BRD2 protein in the development and progression of this cancer. His work could improve understanding of disease mechanisms and contribute to new strategies for prevention and treatment.

Targeting eIF4E-mediated dysregulated mRNA translation as a therapeutic strategy for breast cancer
Triple-negative breast cancer is one of the most aggressive types, with limited treatment options. Researcher Nahum Sonenberg studies the biological mechanisms that promote cancer cell growth in his laboratory. His current work focuses on combining two innovative therapeutic approaches to fight this cancer more effectively.
